CHARACTER
Character Name: Dr. William 'Will' Zimmerman
Age: 30
Species: Human
Canon: Sanctuary
Canon Point: The end of the last season.
Character Info: Canon informations. For some reason this lacks the fourth season, so an overview of the series as a whole.
Personality: When Will was a child, his mother was killed in front of him by a creature that defied all conventional logic and reason. No one believed his side of the story, of course, and he dedicated his entire adult life to seeking and understanding the truth. As a side effect, he cannot abide anyone lying to him. He can occasionally push people too far in his attempts to see the entire truth if he senses they're trying to hide something from him, but he's gotten better about not doing that since his association with Helen Magnus... at least in part because handling Abnormals is a tricky and sensitive business, and pushing too hard can break them, sometimes.

It's also a fact that Magnus is definitely the boss, and despite what he demanded of her when he first came on board the Sanctuary team (full and complete disclosure of every secret she holds), it's just a plain and simple fact that part of the price of working for Magnus and Sanctuary is that sometimes she hides things from her people. It's always done with the best of intentions, and it generally works out in the end, but he's used to it by now in any case. He respects her and trusts her to give him what he needs to help her to the best of his ability.

On top of his compulsion to seek the truth, Will is dedicated to doing the right thing. Magnus even considers him her moral compass, and has told him so on occasion--which is part of why he finds her occasional mistruths so frustrating.

Something that had a profound effect on him early in his time at the Sanctuary is when it became clear that one of his closest friends and coworkers there was struggling with Abnormal abilities. At first suspicious of Henry, Will eventually realized the difficulty and burden Henry carried as a emerging werewolf and his struggles to justify what he was with what he believed himself to be. This revelation helped Will later on, at least in some small way; during the times he is temporarily changed into various Abnormal beings, I think that his memory and knowledge that others he's close to have gone through this really helped him, mentally.

His association with a Big Foot known as 'Biggie', who Helen employs after she saved his life, also helps.

Will has his flaws as well; he doesn't like heights, and isn't a big fan of small spaces, either. He doesn't like blood, slime, or anything that could be termed 'gross'. Helen often teases him with this by offering to let him do autopsies. He can push past these things if he absolutely has to, but he'd really rather not--especially the blood and guts part.

He also has issues admitting his own feeling and emotions, despite how he encourages the people around him to admit theirs.

Abilities: Will has Sherlockian powers of observation; in the early episodes of the show, this is even shown to the audience by stuff becoming super highlighted when he looks at it. They tone this down after a while, I assume because he takes on more duties and responsibilities in the Sanctuary network. However, while he may be a little rusty, he's still a master of behavioral science and able to spot things many average people might miss. Other than that, he's a perfectly ordinary example of a human being.

CARNIVAL
Soul Colour: Slate Blue
Ideal Jobs: Animal Keeper, Patrol, something in the medical tent?
Relevant Experience:
Animal Keeper: Helped capture, contain, and look after the various Abnormal animals in the Sanctuary's walls. He knows his way around critters who really really want to rip him into tiny little bits.

Patrol: Well, he was a crime scene investigator for several years, and he was trained to be an FBI investigator, so. Speaks for itself.

Medical tent: His abilities make him a pretty darn good psychologist; in fact, this is mostly what Magnus initially hired him to do. However, the flip side to this is he can't stand blood and other bodily fluids, so he might not be comfortable working here regularly.

Reason for Joining: He will want the Ringmaster to put a compulsion in place so that people who want to bring harm to the city or its inhabitants, or otherwise not be ready to deal with Abnormals, can't find the city that easily (much like wizards can enchant things to keep curious muggles away in Harry Potter).

Will isn't exactly sure when he started avoiding looking at himself in mirrors. It isn't like he didn't see this coming; he knows very well what he signed up for, what would happen to him. It wasn't like he was deliberately avoiding looking, either, just that one day when he was brushing his teeth he suddenly realized he was studiously looking down at the sink as he carefully navigated the toothbrush by feel around his now very much sharper teeth, avoiding even the slightest glimpse into the mirror.

After that, he realizes he's been unconsciously avoiding them for at least a week, and it's still happening. When he passes one later in the day, he ducks his head a little and averts his gaze, as if not seeing how he's changing will somehow make it better. But of course it doesn't work like that. He'll continue to change even if he can't see it himself, and ignoring it won't help anything.

Even knowing that, it takes a few hours for him to work up the courage to look in a mirror.

He expected the teeth; it's hard to ignore something that effects you every time you speak or try to eat anything. The eyes, though... he definitely doesn't expect that. They're bright yellow, like a wolf's, and it's startling to say the least. They unnerve him even more than the fangs that reveal themselves when he bares his teeth at his reflection, but he'll get used to them eventually.

It's not like he has much of a choice. He's actually kind of grateful that things are starting off slow. It's just his eyes changing color, and it's a little easier to eat steak now. No big deal, really. At least he's not gaining weird muscles out of nowhere, or able to walk on the walls. His skin isn't even scaly. He can handle a few little changes like this, right? It does make him wonder if he's starting to turn into something that's a strict carnivore, but he's never had a problem with eating meat so he's not too worried about that in itself.

Now that he's worked up the courage to look at himself again, he's not even sure what he was so nervous about. This is no big deal, really. He's handled worse things and come out ok in the end, after all; this is just one more thing he'll have to face head-on.

Anyway... it's not like he hadn't known this was coming.
